The Story of The Man. A Smart, Smart Man

Once upon a time, there was a man. He was very lonely so he created 16 Butterflies to follow him where ever he went.

After 2 years of travelling some of the Butterflies became weary and wouldn’t follow him anymore. The man, being a stubborn human, decided to ignore the warnings of the seas.

He continued another year with the weak and soft Butterflies before 13 of them died suddenly. One of the surviving Butterflies threatened the Man to 13 years of solitude if he didn’t replace his fallen comrades with ones even better.

The Man, being a secret a genius and completely afraid of being alone, thought of a good plan. He took the bodies of the 13 dead butterflies and glamoured them in looking radiant and alive.

The Man took the 13 bodies to different places to offer trades and bargains. He sold 2 bodies and received 13 gold plates. He used that to buy a Turkey from Jordan. He traded one for a Canadian Beaver. He traded another for a bald eagle with hard wings. Every time he brought back another creature the Angry Butterfly would slowly start to smile and chant ‘more, more!’. The Man said, One more time then but that is it.

He went to the secret island of Memporllas. Where he, and 3 other men agreed on sharing goods. He gave one man, Otisman, a bag of silver plates. He gave another, Marcini,  3 butterflies in return for 2 creatures: Antionius and Devandid. The rarest to be found. Not to feel to greedy he gave the other man, Christophius, one gold plate. The man had 5 Butterflies left, he let go 3 for goodluck and kept 2 just incase

The Man went back to the pleased butterflies, feeling very good about himself. The butterfly thanked him. But he had one last request.

“Get rid of the Butterfly named Marcius Bankakus” The Man hurriedly agreed and was blessed with a key to Palyfofs.

The End

To better understand this story. Substitute the following characters:

  • The Man = Bryan Colangelo
  • Angry Butterfly = Chris Bosh
  • Other 2 surviving Butterflies = Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon
  • Turkey from Jordan = Hedo Turkoglu
  • Canadian Beaver = Jay Triano
  • Bald Eagle with Hard Wings = Reggie Evans
  • Otisman = Otis Smith
  • Marcini = Mark Cuban
  • Christophius = Chris Wallace
  • Antionius and Devandid = Antoine Wright and Devean George
  • And Marius Bankakus = Marcus Banks

If you didn’t already know Andrea got a 5 year extension worth 50 mil. AP has a verbal commitment to the Cavs. We got our MLE back with over 5 mil to spend. This means we can still get guys like Delfino and Kleiza. Good Job Bryan Colangelo.

Why, DeMar? I thought you said you loved me!

When I get up in the morning, I get my morning read on. (Or Morning Coffee). Today I came across something. A week back, I put my blog on ‘DeRozan Watch’. In other words, I was curious about him and I kept my eyes open for his name in any article. I’ve learned a lot about him, his game and his goals. So you must know how heart broken I was when I read this from Dougie:

Here’s the thing about these workouts that go on before the draft: Sometimes, they’re not workouts at all.

Bryan mentioned earlier this week that they want to get DeMar DeRozan in next week, what’s likely to be the last big session in Toronto, but that the kid might only come in to meet, not to work out.

There’s always a player, usually the ones that are projected to go top ten, whose agent comes out publicly to say his client doesn’t want to work for team A or be drafted by Team B (Read: Rubio). Isn’t getting drafted a privilege? What right as a player, actually no a ‘draft prospect’, do you have to tell teams not to choose you, or you don’t want to work out for them? If I got drafted, I wouldn’t care if it were by the Raptors or Kings or God forbid, the Clippers. So Every time I hear about a player doing this, I shake my head.

I still like DeRozan, but I don’t think him or his agent has the right to be picky, especially if he’s projected to anywhere from 8 to 15. So I hereby OFFICIALLY take my blog off DeRozan watch. Instead I’ll look out for guys who’ve shown interest and could help our team. Like Jonny Flynn, Tyreke Evans, Terrence Williams, Ty Lawson and James Harden (Who probably wouldn’t available at 9).

The Magic are playing tonight, I hope for a win. I want this series to go to 7 games and I’m not ready for no basketball for 5 months!! There’s also 2 weeks until the draft! Oh, I almost forgot! STEVE NASH!

If you notice anything incorrect please feel free comment and let me know. I edit this myself and there might be things I miss. Thank you

The finals are here and I have my predictions!!

First, Chris Bosh finally broke out the Big announcement. He is signing a deal with…. Warner Music Canada to produce a unique DVD and CD to be released in the fall of 2009. Chris also announced that he has become the first athlete in the world to launch his own application for iPhone and iPod. Exciting isn’t it? Didn’t think so.

On to the more interesting stuff. The finals will start this Thursday June 4th. After finishing off the Cavs in gorgeous fashion, The Magic are making only their 2nd finals trip in the past 25 years. The Lakers, However, are no strangers to the finals, and are looking to do what they failed to do last year. It is clear that the Lakers are the heavy favourites, but the Magic have just proved anything is possible. It also helps that the Magic swept the Lakers in the regular season and are extremely confident right now

Now the last time I made predictions I went 8/12. This Time I’m predicting the Magic win this in 7. I’m 0-3 in the last 3 years for my finals pick, so I think I just jinxed the Magic.BUT  I believe the Magic have a chance to upset again, so I will stick with them.

Just one more thing, The Nike Puppet ads were good, but they, and everybody else, jinxed suggested a Laker/Cav, I mean, Kobe/Lebron final. I‘m just happy that did not happen, because just like the Denver Nuggets, The Magic had just as much right as The Lakers and The Cavs to be in the final. Unfortunately the Nuggets gave up in game 6 after they played so well to get themselves to Conference Finals.

SO two things everybody learned (Unless you honestly never knew before) in the Conference Finals:

  1. The game is a TEAM game. One can show flashes of carrying a team, but in the end, it will not work. Even children know going 5 against 1 is a big disadvantage. And It sucks even more when you think you have that TEAM but they don’t show up when it matters the most. Lebron is ONE of the best players in the game today, but he CANNOT carry a team. Ignore game 2 and game 5, because that wont happen all the time.
  2. The game is about MATCHUPS. case #1: Rashard Lewis, a crafty PF, against the likes of Anderson Varejao, Ben Wallace and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Lewis has been a matchup nightmare to most teams in the league. A big part of his game is the 3 ball. Something he shoots pretty well. When a big comes out to guard him he fakes them out or beats them off the dribble, If the 3 is NOT available. Most bigs can’t keep up with that. case #2: Pau Gasol (another crafty big) owned the Nuggets bigs, when his teammate decided to throw him the ball. He kept the ball high, crashed the boards and never shied away from contact (can’t believe I just said that). Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu were others or caused their opponents fits

TSN, ABC, and NBATV will be covering the Finals. Cross our fingers for a seven game series.

SO LETS GO MAGIC!!
